Light-filled spaces and a focus on connecting to the land are featured in this beautiful home by DLG Aluminium & Glazing.
Blending perfectly with its environment and just a stone’s throw from the banks of the Murray River, this ultra modern home perches above the city of Albury, NSW. From every angle, the building enjoys amazing vistas and the gentle play of light across stunning terrain.
Designed and built by local builder, Scott James, the home features extensive use of Vantage and Elevate™ Aluminium Systems window and door systems to add style, light, ventilation and lifestyle flexibility. An internal atrium is a unique feature of this home and enhances the feeling of connection with the elements.
Understanding the benefits of passive design and energy-efficient building, Scott James elected to use double glazing throughout the project to respond to the cool-climate requirements of the location. The team at DLG Aluminium and Glazing Pty Ltd, with their range of exceptional high-quality products and understanding of sustainable solutions, contributed greatly to the project’s success. In fact, the building was recently recognised as winner of the 2011 Australian Window Associations award for ‘Best Use of Windows and Doors – Residential’, which recognises fenestration products which complement and enhance the design of a dwelling or building.
DLG recommended the use of a combination of Elevate™ Aluminium Systems and Vantage Aluminium Joinery, to achieve the desired aesthetic and performance requirements.
A particular feature of the dwelling is the large sliding doors opening out onto sprawling outdoor gardens and living spaces. Awning windows have been selected for their suitability to the local climate and ability to offer passive ventilation during warmer months.
LowE IGUs with Argon gas were selected for their thermal properties and to deliver the necessary insulation and thermal efficiency to the home.
Products used include MAGNUM™ 616 Awning Windows, MAGNUM™ 618 Sliding Doors, Series 704 SlideMASTER™ Doors, Series 426 FrontGLAZE™ Framing, Series 52 Hinged Doors, and Double Glazing LowE/Argon Gas.
Light-filled spaces and a focus on connecting to the land combine to make this beautiful home the perfect complement to the wide open spaces in which it stands.
