Mercy Centre

Mercy Centre, located in the heart of Albury, New South Wales, is a 60-bed aged care facility that provides residents with a peaceful, light-filled environment. The project required high-performance aluminium windows and doors to offer expansive views of the surrounding gardens and townscape while ensuring energy efficiency, acoustic comfort, and accessibility for elderly residents.

Challenge

Situated atop a hill, the Mercy Centre required windows and doors to enhance natural light, provide panoramic views, and meet stringent energy and acoustic performance standards. The aged care environment also required easy-to-operate solutions that would suit the needs of elderly residents while withstanding the region’s varied climate.

Solution

DLG Aluminium and Glazing worked closely with JWP Architects to deliver custom glazing solutions that met the project’s architectural and functional demands. Using Elevate™ Aluminium Systems and tailored double-glazed units, the final product combined style, performance, and resident-friendly operation. Highlights include:

Floor-to-Ceiling Double-Glazed Glass Doors: These were Installed in communal areas to maximise daylight and create visual access to the garden spaces while enhancing thermal performance.

Commercial Series Awning and Sliding Systems: Series 456 awning windows and Series 52 sliding doors in resident rooms allow easy operation, sound insulation, and consistent airflow.

Custom Glazing Solutions: Tailored glass in various shapes, colours, and frame configurations were expertly measured and installed onsite to match the building’s complex architectural layout.

Results

The final installation fulfilled the Mercy Centre’s vision of creating an inviting, tranquil environment for residents. Custom aluminium windows and doors allowed for uninterrupted views, improved indoor climate control, and increased acoustic comfort. The project was recognised with the Master Builders Association Award for ‘Best Commercial Project from $5 to $10 million’, underscoring the quality of the build and glazing solution.
