Thankyou AWA for this article. Its great information
Did you know you shouldn’t hose down your windows to clean them! Windows are not designed to be hosed. High pressure water may leak inside your windows and can cause the glass to break. Well today is the 1 month mark before the inevitable happens, Australia loses its Car Manufacturing Industry. We here at Farewell to Holden Manufacturing in Australia, want to pay homage to all the people past and present who helped make what Holden is today. That's why we started this page so people could have a central location to share their information on how they plan to mark the day. There is no doubting it that a lot of people and car clubs are planning on converging on Holden Vehicle Operations at Elizabeth on the morning in their Australian made Holden. There will no doubt be some awesome Holdens parked outside around the plant and car parks and we hear that some clubs plan on doing laps around the outside of the plant. A lot of people are asking for the finer details of the day, what we can advise is that shift starts just after 6am. So if you want to be there to wish the workers well and congratulate them on a job well done on building the best car in this country before they head in, we suggest you arrive before this time and park your Holden in a safe secure spot. If you don't wish to arrive that early, that's ok too as more people and beautiful Holden's will make an appearance later on. That's why we ask that you find a safe and secure spot to park your car in close proximity to each other and as a way to pay homage, hold a mini show n shine and be proud that your car was 'Made in Australia'. As the morning goes on, the news will no doubt spread that the final Australian made Holden has come off the line, we think this will happen mid morning. After that we have been told that employees will be taken to a private function. This is not an all day event and anticipate people and their beautiful Holdens will start making their way back home sometime from 11am onwards. In the coming weeks will post some more items and information of interest to people, so stay tuned. If you wish to do your own thing on the morning in the same vicinity you are more than welcome to, we are just trying to do our best to plan out the morning so everyone enjoys themselves. (alot of people are asking "why is the start time at 5:30am?" "I cant be there that early". That is fine if you cant get there till later on in the morning, it is just a starting time for the die hard Holden enthusiasts who want to have their cars on display and congratulate the works on a job well done before they go through the gates. People are welcome to arrive when they wish. I just know from the messages the page has received a lot of people want to be there before workers arrive for work so they can say their best wishes to them and show off their Holdens to try and lift what no doubt will be somber mood on the morning.) ...
